Fan Film, Fan Films

Star Trek, Wall•E and Aquaman

Some small fan film-related items today:

STAR TREK FAN FILM ZINE
Don’t know how I never heard of this before, but you might want to take a look at Trekkie Central, a downloadable zine in .PDF format for Trek fan film fans. Its website is a bit of a mess, but clearly this is someone’s labor of love. The current issue focuses solely on the late fan series, Hidden Frontier, and the next one, issue 7 (shown in the photo), is due out soon.

WALL•E FAN FILM
It had to happen sooner or later, and in fact, it seems to have happened maybe a week after the latest Pixar smash hit theaters: The arrival of the first Wall•E fan film, , by Anthony Meadows. I haven’t seen the feature film yet, so I didn’t watch it, just in case there’s spoilers. If you give it a gander, let us know if it’s any good in the comments section.

…AND AQUAMAN
It’s always fun to take cheap shots at poor old Aquaman, DC Comics’ orange, underwater adventurer, but now Australian bodyguard / professional video editor / director / CGI animator Mike Free is trying to restore the blond-haired hero’s dignity by making the first live-action Aquaman fan film. The stills on his website careen all the way from pretty dodgy to pretty cool; what will the end result be like? Give your guesses in the comments below.
